Your provider

Tim Korm, PMHNP-BC

Tim Korm is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 15 years of experience in mental and behavioral healthcare. He is the provider you see at Orange Pacific Mental Health, from your first evaluation onward, rather than whoever the schedule assigns that month.

Booking runs through Headway, which verifies what your insurance covers before you commit to anything.

He is licensed in California, Oregon, Washington and Arizona, and sees patients by telehealth across all four states. His clinical focus is adult ADHD, alongside medication management for co-occurring mood and anxiety disorders.

Credentials

Credentials and board certification

Tim Korm holds board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), the credential awarded through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. His NPI is 1447717657, which you can verify yourself in the public NPI registry.

Credential Awarded by How you check it
Board certification, PMHNP-BC American Nurses Credentialing Center ANCC certification register
NPI 1447717657 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Public NPI registry
Four state licences, listed in full below The nursing board of each state Licence numbers were not supplied, so no direct lookup can be printed
Training and certification in ADHD evaluation and treatment Awarding body not yet named No route can be printed until the awarding body is named
Master of Psychopharmacology Neuroscience Education Institute NEI program

Every credential above is independently verifiable. That matters more in telehealth psychiatry than in most fields, because the distance makes it harder to tell a licensed prescriber from a subscription service, and because patients have been burned by the difference.

Background

Where he trained and practiced

Tim earned his degrees at the University of Massachusetts and National University in San Diego. His background spans behavioral health services at military installations, the VA healthcare system, and community mental health, along with leading hospital systems including UC San Diego Health, Sharp and Scripps.

Military installations

Behavioral health at volume, where trauma, PTSD and substance use present as the routine caseload rather than the occasional one.

The VA healthcare system

Long-running care for the same patients, where the question is what a condition looks like over years rather than at one appointment.

Community mental health

Severe presentations with thin resources and no option to refer the difficult case somewhere else.

UC San Diego Health, Sharp and Scripps

Working inside medical teams, where psychiatric symptoms sit on top of real medical conditions and have to be told apart from them.

That range is the part worth pausing on. A provider who has only ever worked in a private outpatient setting has not seen those, and it shows in how quickly they recognize the case that does not fit the pattern.

Licensed practice

States where Tim Korm is licensed

All appointments are by video, available anywhere in the state. Each state licenses advanced practice nursing under its own title, which is why the four below are worded differently.

  • Washington ARNP Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Video statewide. Office in Bellevue.
  • Oregon APRN-NP Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner Video statewide. Offices in Sisters and Bend.
  • California NP Nurse Practitioner Video statewide. Office in Glendale.
  • Arizona APRN-CNP Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Certified Nurse Practitioner Video statewide. Office in Tempe.

Hours are Mon to Thu 8am to 7pm, Fri to 5pm, Sat 10am to noon (Pacific).

Adult ADHD

Adult ADHD evaluation and treatment

Adult ADHD is Tim’s particular interest, and he has pursued training and certification in ADHD evaluation and treatment beyond what generalized psychiatry requires.

That distinction matters because adult ADHD is routinely assessed in a fifteen-minute conversation and a symptom checklist. A proper evaluation looks at developmental history, at how attention and executive function affect work and home life now, and at the conditions that imitate ADHD or sit alongside it. Anxiety, depression and chronic sleep deprivation all produce attention problems. Treating the wrong one is the usual reason somebody concludes that stimulants did not work for them.

Medication treatment follows where it is clinically indicated, and the evaluation comes first. Where stimulant medication is clinically appropriate, we discuss it directly, including what it does and does not do, and what monitoring looks like. Non-stimulant options are discussed in the same conversation. The practice prescribes stimulants by telehealth in line with DEA regulations, and follows the post-COVID extension under the Ryan Haight Act. More on prescribing and controlled substances.

Medication management

Medication management for co-occurring mood and anxiety disorders

Most people who come in for one condition have two. ADHD arrives with anxiety, depression sits underneath a sleep complaint, and the medication that helps one can aggravate another. Sequencing those correctly is the actual skill in psychiatric medication management.

Tim completed the Neuroscience Education Institute Master of Psychopharmacology program for deeper training in exactly that. It is a voluntary qualification. Prescribers take it because they want more than the minimum, not because a license board asked them to.

Approach

How he approaches treatment

In his own words:

I am an outcomes-based provider. I aim to target symptoms using evidence-based medications, to equip clients with knowledge and an understanding of their own mental health, and to promote the lifestyle changes that optimize sleep, diet, exercise and social engagement.

Read that second clause again, because it is the one that separates providers. Being handed a prescription and being taught what your own condition is are different experiences, and only one of them leaves you able to make decisions about your care in five years.

Questions

Questions about working with Tim Korm

Is a psychiatric nurse practitioner the same as a psychiatrist?

Both diagnose psychiatric conditions and both prescribe medication. A psychiatrist trains through medical school, a PMHNP through advanced practice nursing. In California, Oregon, Washington and Arizona a PMHNP evaluates, diagnoses and manages psychiatric medication. For the great majority of outpatient adult psychiatry the practical difference to you is scheduling: a PMHNP is usually available in weeks rather than months.

How should I choose a psychiatric provider for adult ADHD?

Ask three things. Does the evaluation take longer than twenty minutes. Does the provider have training in ADHD specifically rather than psychiatry generally. Will you see the same person at every follow-up. A practice that cannot answer all three clearly is telling you something.

Will I see Tim Korm every time, or get passed to someone else?

You see Tim. It is a single-provider practice, which is the reason patients tend to come to it after trying an app.

What does an appointment cost?

Insurance is verified through Headway before you commit to booking, so you see what your plan covers before anything is scheduled. Self-pay is $280 first visit, $130 follow-ups.

Does he treat adolescents or only adults?

Adults 18 and up, in all four states. The practice does not treat adolescents.
